Coaching Pathways
Coaches are essential to athlete development. FENB supports three coaching streams aligned with the Canadian Fencing Federation's coaching framework.
Community Stream
Initiation Level
Community animators deliver brief introductory programs covering fundamental fencing movements in an enjoyable, non-competitive setting.
Ongoing Participation Level
Animators support fencers across all age groups interested in recreational fencing and fitness.
Instructional Stream
Beginner Level
Instructors advance beginners beyond introductory stages through orange armband completion.
Intermediate Level
Instructors refine technical and tactical skills through green armband attainment.
Advanced Level
Instructors develop athletes to the black armband — the highest level.
Competition Stream
Competition Introduction
Coaches develop technical-tactical abilities for Train-to-Train stage fencers entering regional competitions.
Competition Development
Coaches prepare Train-to-Compete fencers for national-level events.
High Performance
Coaches guide Train-to-Win and Compete-to-Win fencers toward international competition.
